Etna lava stone slabs with a ribbed quarry-split finish. The ribs are cut with a milling machine and the slab is then split by hand: the surface has irregular relief and every slab is slightly different.

The finish

How it is made

The slab is cut with a milling machine, which makes parallel ribs. It is then split by hand along the ribs.

For this reason thickness and edges are not perfectly regular and the slabs are not all identical.

It is used for interior walls (living rooms, entrances, bathrooms), as a kitchen splashback, for façades, outdoor walls and commercial spaces.

It is glued like other natural stone claddings. The installer chooses the adhesive based on the wall and on whether it is indoors or outdoors.

Does it need treating?

It is not required. In kitchens, bathrooms or outdoors you can apply a protective treatment for natural stone, which helps against water and stains.
