“Momento” Plate in hand-glazed Etna lava stone

The design

Momento, colour thrown onto stone

The Momento pattern comes from quick gestures: the glaze is thrown and left to drip on the stone, as in action painting. In some places the lava stone stays bare, rough and dark, next to the glossy colour.

The base is a 0.6 cm slab of Etna lava stone. The glaze is applied by hand, with a brush or an airbrush, then fired in the kiln, so every plate has small differences in colour and pattern.

At 22 cm it is the right size for starters, desserts, sushi or a tartare. Put it in the fridge for 10 minutes before serving and it keeps the food cool.

Care and shipping

Is it dishwasher safe?

Yes. To keep the glaze looking good for longer, we still recommend washing it by hand with water and a mild detergent.

Can I serve food on it?

Yes, the glaze is food safe. Don't leave oil, wine or vinegar for long on the unglazed stone.

Does it keep food cold?

Yes. Put it in the fridge for 10 minutes before serving: the stone stores the cold and keeps raw fish, sushi and desserts cool.
