The piece

“Terra e Fuoco” Vase

The vase is split in two. Below, the earth: matt ochre with incised lines that recall woven baskets. Above, fire and water: glossy glazed red and blue. The contrast between the rough and the shiny part is the heart of the piece.

Filippo Messina works in Sicily, between Etna and the sea, and his colours come from there: the blue of the sea, the red and black of the lava. Every piece is unique and is never made again.
